Antique Micromosaic Pendant 'Capitoline Steps'

A remarkable 19th century micromosaic depicting Rome's famed 'Capitoline Steps' is beautifully preserved in this one-of-a-kind pendant. Formed from countless tiny pieces of colored glass arranged with extraordinary precision, the scene is set against a rich blue surround and framed in a slender gold bezel accented with four sets of gold triads. Treasured as keepsakes by Grand Tour travelers, micromosaics captured the celebrated sights of Italy in miniature. Set by hand in Elizabeth Locke Jewels' signature richly textured gold, the pendant is finished with a slender clip bale that attaches easily to a favorite necklace.
